I have about half a dozen formal dresses from high school proms and other such occassions. I don't have any plans to wear any of them in the near future, but I want to keep them for sentimental reasons.

Unfortunately, they are taking up too much room in my small closet and I need to move them to the attic.

What is the best type of container for storing these garments?

I would think garment bags.

Research those bags that you can suck all the air out of, that might work.

Well what my mom did was she got those big black garbage bag and but the dress on the hanger then put the garbage bag on the dress and hang the dress up, this keeps the dress from dust and it will keep it protected and from getting wrinkled.

The best way it a large Vacuum Bag! Just lay it flat and vacuum the air out of it. Its the best protection i know. Good Luck.
