When voting, what does "place" correspond to?

I looked at my voter registration card, and there is a listing for district, senate, congressional, school dist, and commission. How do I find out what "place" I belong to so that I can research the candidates. For this election the place seems to be tied to electing judges. Help!

This "place" is different from where I go to vote. There is an election in my state for probate judges and they are broken into "place" categories (1,2,etc.), but I do not know what my "place" is.

place refers to where you go to vote, and has nothing to do with any candidate or any other matter regarding what or who to vote on. you can call your local election commission, or city hall to find out where you are to go to cast your vote. small towns may only have a single place to vote, while larger ones may have sevel, and cities may have several hundred locations. you can only vote absentee, or early, for a short time before the election day. but when you go on election day, you have only one place you can go to vote. that is your specific polling place. if you go somewhere else you will not be allowed to vote, but they will tell you where to go so that you can vote.
