my god... if you ever needed proof that the public education system isn't working, all you need to do is go online. run-on sentences, rampant misspellings... american children can't write THEIR OWN LANGUAGE. it's really sad. sometimes i want to just threaten all the english teachers out there. i can barely even read what these kids are typing. it's like another language almost.

like i said, who cares if i capitalize the letters? AT LEAST I DON'T WRITE A BUNCH OF RUN-ON SENTENCES THAT ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND AND WORDS LIKE "SUM1." really, the rampant run-on sentences are ridiculous. at least i can understand what 20+ people are saying when i read their text.

Well, you do have to admit that not properly capitalizing that particular paragraph seems a bit hypocritical. Wow. I just realized I used a looot of big words for a teenager. ;)

I am sick of all the misuse too!! "ppl" is not even a cotton-pickin word people! This is not entirely the fault of teachers. Children have had lessons in school about the correct usage of the English language and I think some are getting their brains fried from too much tv, not eating decent food and have parents who do not spend time on schoolwork at home with their kids. Some people do not seem to be able to absorb information, process it and have it stick in their brain. At the university level some students still don't know or understand the difference between their, there, and they're. How could it be?? Are some minds just elsewhere their whole lives? I don't get it and it boggles my own mind. I learned all that stuff when I was in elementary school and got it. Why can't others?

Most of us know how to right proper sentences and English properly. The thing is, we are online, and in a hurry! Since we are under those circumstances, we don't have to use full sentences or spell words correctly. We understand what is being said, and that is all that is required online. Just a hint of advice, if you can't understand what we're saying, stop trying to read it!! If you don't comprehend, its your problem. We are NOT misusing our "beautiful English language." We are simply using what we can understand without going overboard. One more thing....if you decide to ask a question about people misusing English, perhaps you should learn to capitalize words that are suppose to be, that way it looks like you actually have a meaning in asking the question.

I agree with you. The worst part is that they have no desire to know the difference. I value the exceptional education that I have received and cannot imagine someone being content with ignorance. But, a lot of it is not just the education system, it's how they are disciplined at home. I'm very thankful that my mother enforced proper grammar. It's nice to be able to hold an intelligent conversation and be able to communicate both written and verbally.

you're right. It is sad, but not all teenagers write that way. For example, I will only write/type in the "other language" to shorten space, or if i'm in a hurry. Or if i'm talking to friends online. Half the stuff, I can't even understand.

They choose to use these short cuts and abbreviations,at least most of them do,I don't blame the English Teachers for that.

I'm sick as to how all people mangle the language in all forms, making up words as they go along ("this bill is importnormous"), using words improperly ("we must interface") or dealing strictly in slang ("so that dude was changed that I blinged his aggro").

i'm from Arizona we've fairly no accessory. it relatively is going to likely be unhappy if all of us homogenize like they choose. that is going to be the least of Our concerns . Staying alive and unfastened stands out as the main undertaking for awhile.

Hmm. That's very interesting. However, you have terrible punctuation, so start with threatening your English teacher.
