only one of them ... which would you rescue?

Whichever one was easiest to carry or closest. Failing that, I suppose i would do the mental equivalent of flipping a coin.

You are a total fathead. How is anyone supposed to answer this?

Incidentally, I am an American.

If they were both dying in a fire, I don't know that the person saving one or the other would know that one was an American citizen and the other not...that's a horrible question to ask people if they would choose to save one person over another due to citizenship.. what is wrong with you???
I'm an American

I would pull the one that had appeared to have the best chance of surviving first. If they were identical situations of health, I would just grab the furthest one and alert another of a survivor,or go back for the second. By grabbing the furthest, it increases any chances of getting to the other via that route.

identical twins, of separate citizenships? IF the AMerica were one of those idiots who thinks he is better, just cuz he's American, then of course I'd let him burn. If he's a regular Joe, then I'd save the person closest to me, irregardless of citizenship.

I am an American, whose family on my mother's side can be traced here back to the 1800's.

Assuming my relationship with both of them was same.

The one who was closet to the door.

There is no way, with the facts given, that I would care that one twin is American and the other is not. I would be sad that I could only save one, but I would save the one I save with least amount of harm to them and myself.

I would save whichever one I came to first. I'm American, but not one of those that think Americans are superior to any other human being. An accident of birth does not make you better.

Not to be a nitpicker, but how could identical twins be from different countries? Perhaps they were separated at birth?

I would go for the closest one and then go back and get the other one.

But for your question I would pull out the non American because the American, would be able to get his/her self out

I'd go for the one furthest to the door, and then go back for the other one. It won't matter what nationality the person is.
