In context..."better to use warm tepid water when washing your face as opposed to hot water." So what does tepid mean?

Lukewarm, moderately warm. If you were to take an entire bath in tepid water, you'd get cold.

Tepid means just warm to the touch. When you turn on the faucet and it is just getting warm that would be tepid.

When you clean your face it it better to use pretty warm water. That will open your pores. Then steam it with a hot rag for a minute. Before you are through put a cool rag back on your face a minute to close your pores again.

Warm, not to warm that you see steam coming off the water, but warm enough that it warms your hands. (Lukewarm) Hope I helped.
