There's different methods for different types of dance. In the dance forms I do, tribal fusion and ATS... ... the knees don't drive the move, they are there just to flex slightly and allow the movement to happen. Get a good stance with legs hip socket width apart (that's quite close together), tail tucked slightly - then use your stomach muscles to pull the hip on one side up, slide out, let it drop and pull it in. The movement might be quite small at first and difficult to do but that's better than thrusting your hip out and getting an easy big movement. In the end the move will look "other worldly" if you get it right. Repeat on the other side. Link them together in a figure of eight. Then play with the eights, up, down, back , front. 3/4s.

Yes i do...Feet close together, knees far apart but not too far(so your legs would look like parentheses),upper body straight, twist your hips to a steady pulse so you can feel your hips making a connection to yo ribs...its a nice exercise and its fun to do at parties

to hip roll you just move your hips from side to side and once you can do that try going in a circular motion only moving your lower half.. You may have to practice for a while but in the end you will get it
