IF YOU WERE ON WALKER TEXAS RANGER I WOULD TELL YOU TO DO THE RIGHT THING BUT SINCE THIS IS THE REAL WORLD ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN EVEN TO YOU IF THE COPS ARE NOT PUTTING ENOUGH TIME IN IT TO FIGURE IT OUT THEN IT MUST NOT BE MUCH OF A CONCERN SEEMS LIKE YOU NEED TO GET AWAY FOR A WHILE OR STAND UP TO YOUR PARENTS
THE CHOICE YOU MAKE WILL DEFINE YOU AS A PERSON BUT SINCE I AM NOT THERE I CAN'T REALLY TELL YOU

Your in a tough spot. You have your family threatening you and you have gangs potentially harming you. This person who did the vandalizing is a family member and that could hurt you emotionally if you turn him or her in.

I don't know what to tell you here. You have a tough decision to make. As far as ethics go, you should report the crime. Yet, as far as family and self preservation goes, you should just stay out of it.

If you are going to turn your family member in to the police, then I hope you have an escape plan. Like you will need a place to live and a good place to hide out in case a gang member comes looking for you. The police can not offer you protection and that is a big problem in this whole picture.

I really do wish you the best of luck and for now I am going to suggest that you keep this to yourself and give this a lot of thought.

Good Luck and Take Care

Tough situation. Yes, I think you should report it (somehow) but I would understand if you can't do so safely and decide not to.

It's possible that instead of calling up and saying "My brother did it" you could tell the police where to look for the incriminating evidence. For example, did he use a tool or can of spray paint that he left in the garage and that has his fingerprints on it? or do you know of other such evidence somewhere? If you can lead the police to the evidence, they can use you as a confidential informant to get the search warrant, and if the search warrant turns up useful evidence, they won't need you as a witness in court because the evidence will stand up on its own two feet, so to speak. I believe that "reliable sources" that lead the police to useful evidence are kept confidential and don't get disclosed to the other party, but you can check on that.

I agree with Phoenix. Call Crimestoppers and make an anonymous tip. Just don't get too specific, so that it can't be traced back to you.

Drop an anonymous tip. With all that talk and cover up, they can't really expect people not to hear about it.
