We have taken our daughter to Sears (rather spendy, but awesome pictures!!) and to Wal-Mart. The Wal-Mart pictures we have done for her 1 month, 6 month, and year pictures, and we are using them again for the pictures for my parents (her with her two cousins) for Christmas. Wal-Mart has good backgrounds, and some nice props. And we have an awesome lady that works at our local Wal-Mart that does the pictures. . . She is very nice, and rather creative. And she can get our daughter to do some things that we have never been able to do!!!

So it is all going to be what you are looking for. Wal-Mart will have the best picture package deals (we are getting a $5.99 package for the most recent one), but the more expensive places will give you great backgrounds, and a lot of the "bells and whistles" for the picture effects (fade-outs, silouettes, coloring effects, etc.), as well as some extremely nice picture results. But you will pay for all of that.

We looked at what we wanted for the Christmas pictures we did at Sears. We did our family picture and used it for Christmas cards as well as getting a nice portrait for our home. And we got some of our daughter in her fancy Christmas dress by herself - they were smaller, and we only got enough for grandparents and aunts and uncles. Four our "bulk" picture needs, we use Wal-Mart.

I have never used Target, so I can't tell you how well they do. Good luck on your pictures!!

I've been a devoted customer to Sears Portrait Studios for the past 10 years and have never been dissapointed. Great packages and tons of cute backgrounds to choose from.

Yes, Portait Innovations is wonderful. They let you bring outfits for changing if you care to do it. They also instead of just pulling down a background, have backgrounds that go across the floor. We had one done of our granddaughter and it looks like she's actually standing on a sandy beach in her diaper. Since they use digital cameras the child does not have to pose and stare at a stationary point so they are able to catch them in some cute natural poses. They're cheapest package is $9.95.

With the big chain stores like Walmart, Target it all depends on who is taking a picture that day. It's very hard to find out who took what photos.
With private photographers you can see their past work, and see if you like their work.
If price is an issue, consider taking the photo yourself, much more personal, and use an online photo service to print the Cards for you.

Sears. Honestly if you want the best pictures a private photographer is your best bet. My dad does pics and he's very reasonable. He just won't do my child...That's why I go to sears. Good prices and great with the babies. At least here. Walmart can be good too if you have the right person.

I've had my daughters pictures taken at walmart before and i didn't think they were that good, but i had her pictures taken at sears and they were really nice and it's not too expensive either so I'd recommend sears,my sister told me the picture ppl end up being very expensive but i seen the pictures she had taken and they were very good but she ended up spending like 150 dollars

I use JC Penney myself. I just had my 6 month old's Christmas pictures done this last week. I'm pretty happy with them. They typically sell their pics by the sheet. You can find coupons in almost any baby magazine for like $3.99 or $4.99 a sheet. My last couple of orders have been around $75 - $85......

I've heard (and seen!) great things about the Picture People. They're a bit pricey though. We've always had both of our sons' pictures taken at Sears and have been incredibly happy with the results.

Talk to the people who work there before you make a decision. If theyre rude or have an attitude, your going to get messed up pictures. But I liked Target. They had great prices, cute backgrounds and flexible packedges.

walmart has many different backrounds for christmas now, they also offer christmas cards for very inexpensive. Ive tried all the other places and they are such a rip off. I have been taking all four of my kids to walmart for years now, and they do a great job.
