Margret Thatcher was a man in drag!
But seriously I read an article in New Scientist saying the odds are against women. It has been statistically proven that people are more likely to vote for men and if two men compete they are more likely to vote for the one with the most masculine face.
A feminine face is often quite rounded (like the Andy Warhol picture of Maryln Monroe) and Margret Thatcher had quit a sharp face which made her look more masculine. I'm not saying that is the only reason she got in but it could have been a factor in her victory.
So yes I think a woman president is a possibility but the odds are against any female candidate.

Yes. Possibly in 2008 - I would not rule out a race between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Condoleezza Rice.
If not in 2008, certainly at some point in the next three election cycles.
What will be interesting is whether the US gets a female President or a black President first.

I believe we are very close to having a female president. I predict a lot of forward movement in the next 3 election periods. Once we get a strong woman in the running it will open up more opportunities and give confidence to other women.

this is inevitable, ladies are as sturdy, if no greater suitable than maximum men to rule a rustic. you haven't any longer have been given any farther to look than England, India to call yet 2. Then submit to in recommendations that for any female to grow to be President, she will must be a minimum of 50% greater suitable than any male working against her, just to triumph over the prejudice. I doubt that it would set a concern, as there'll continually be men who upward thrust above, basically as there'll be ladies. to boot, enable's settle for it, how a lot worse can we get than the previous 2 or 3 Presidents. as long because it relatively is not Hillary!!!!!!!

When HELL freezes OVER...!
The United States is not VERY tolerant of females or minorities. There is NO way in HELL white men would want to have a female or minority as a president........................its that GOP(grand ol' party) philosophy or good ole boys network thingy'.
Hell win elect a female before people in this country will. And that is a sad thing.

I believe eventually it will, but I seriously doubt anytime soon. In this day and age, honestly, how many men will actually vote for a woman as President? Many men will not allow themselves to open up like that.

"Ever" is a very long time!!
Believe it or not, the United States may have a female president in 27 months. Let's hope so. (It could not be any worse!)

I firmly believe we will have a female president in 2008. God willing, it won't be Hillary. I think it's gonna come down to Clinton V. Rice. I for one, will be voting for Dr. Rice. I think she would make a great President.

Eventually at some point I'm sure.. but even being a female.. I don't know that I would vote for a female unless they are really strong... because I do think women are more emotional then men and I do think that it would be harder for a women to separate her emotions, then for the good of the Country..just my opinion

Well, the problem I see with that is that the Presidents job is to be Commander and Chief of our military. That is a conflict. I do in no way belive that women should be barefoot and pregnant. I belive that both sexes have something to offer that the other can not, but Commander and Chief should be a mans job. What next? They already have guys wearing pink.
