I can't sew, but I really want some accurate SCA garb. Does anyone know a good, reasonably price place to get garb, or some simple patterns that a novice could make? I am intererested in Medieval/early renaissance garb for me and my boyfriend.

Many re-enactment chapters have a "resident garber" that would be happy to help you. If you're ordering from a catalog or website, you're going to pay a lot. On the upside, you can be assured of the quality this way. On the downside, you won't know till you get it if it fits comfortably, and it won't be unique.
Not knowing where you're located, I can't be more specific. However, I have done some garbing myself, so failing all else, drop me an email and we'll see about comparing locations and making arrangements.

I'd suggest making your own really. Even if you can't sew. Most renaissance garb was poorly sewn in looks but strong enough to hold up. I make a few things myself. If you have any problems get some modern clothes that fit like what your looking for, and either alter them, or cut it up and use it for a pattern. My tunic i used an old vest for the pattern and just lengthened the front and back of it. You can also look for "medieval clothing" on a search. Lots of web places. but most are fairly expensive.

Try eBay. Just type SCA into the search.
Also: long time ago I saw some pretty basic patterns online for plain tunics - try typing SCA pattern into your search bar and I think you might find something.
Good Luck!
