I spent a winter in West Virginia when I was in the 5th grade. It didn't snow as much that year as it often does, but it was enough that I loved it. I remember sitting by the window overlooking the backyard, we lived on a mountain slope so our backyard was downhill, watching the snowflakes decend in the twilight.
I also remember the first morning I had to walk to the school bus stop after it had snowed quite a bit the day & night before. It was mostly downhill even though it wasn't that far. As I came around a bend in the road where the grade was a bit steeper, I stopped to admire the view; it overlooked the houses, streets, and land below, I was enchanted by the beauty of all that white in the peaceful morning. It was only broken up by a black strip of asphalt far below. There was snow on the rooftops, long icicles hanging from the trees and eaves of roofs. I probably would have stayed and stared for an hour if my friend hadn't called my name and reminded me I'd be late for the bus if I didn't move it. She didn't understand that it was the most beautiful natural thing I'd ever seen because she'd lived there all her life. I'm from Florida and it sure doesn't snow here; the leaves don't even change colors in the autumn, they just turn brown and fall off the trees. Seeing the earth covered in a blanket of white is incredibly beautiful and I highly recommend saving up to take a vacation up north some winter and see it for yourself.

Plenty of them...you live in Western Pennsylvania and you normally do have a white Christmas. I could live without them now, but when I was a kid it was simply enchanting. Leaving carrots in the snow in the backyard for the reindeers..my father would use something or other to imitate reindeer tracks in the snow and remove the carrots before we got up. Seeing the houses lit up with Christmas lights up and down the street through the falling snow, the evergreen trees so prevalent here with their branches heavy with snow...the smell of the pine and the cold of the air mixed with the fires from folks fireplaces coming from the chimneys. We went to a near by farm and had sleigh-rides, cuddling up to my boyfriend under a blanket while the cold air nipped our noses and the bells on the sleigh jingled and jangled is very memorable. That was back in the 60s and 70s when I was little girl or a teenager...NOT liking the snow so much now that I have to drive it and go back and forth to work in it every day - shovel it ...and slip on the ice and break my fat a**!! lol I'm all for Christmas on the beach someday.

I have had one every year of my life and I'm going to be 55 next month. It must be where you live if you have never had one. Take a trip to where the snow flies and the wind blows. The sun sparkles on the snow and on the snow on the trees, very pretty but I hate Winter more every year.I don't like the cold it makes my bones ache more and afraid of slipping on the ice, falling down.Hope you get a chance to see at least one white Xmas in your life.

A white Christmas:
Kids pulling sleds down the street,
Snow ball fights,
Snowmen,
Christmas lights reflecting in the snow, making it look different colors,
Long johns,
Going to the tree farm and chopping down your tree, then knocking the snow off it before you tie it to the top of the car,
Making snow angels in the yard,
A guy in a Santa suit, riding a snow mobile, shows up at your house to deliver the presents,
Family gathering around the fireplace with hot chocolate and homemade gingerbread cookies,
Snow, snow, snow and more snow!!!

Not every year of my life but close...Snow is a pristine beauty to me..Its so quiet & serene as it falls, seeing a spider web glistening in the sunshine covered with thin ice is awesome..Everything looks like theres a vanilla icing or frosting on it,although it is cold & a pain to drive in,& the left over slush as it melts is nasty, but everything great has a set back or two..ey?Its awesome..
