Ghosts cannot exist within the well defined parameters of our scientific laws. Therefore, definitive proof of ghosts and spirits would mean that the entire foundation of our scientific understanding is incorrect and would need to be rewritten.

Take, for instance, Newton's first law: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

So we have to decide if a ghost can impact its environment in any way (it would have to if it existed at all). If it can, say, moan - that would require manipulating air molecules through something like a vocal cord. Rattling chains requires the ability to touch, grab and move the chain from their original state of rest.

The laws of physics are very consistent (that's why they're called laws). If a ghost CAN have an impact on one thing - a chain -it MUST be able to impact everything in the same way. So a ghost could not grab a chain and walk through a door simultaneously - that would be inconsistent with the laws of physics.

Of course the major world religions would be shaken up, if ghosts were definitively proved, god could probably be definitively proven. However, I suggest that having our scientific world view changed so fundamentally would have a far greater impact on the way the majority of people live their lives.

First and foremost I am writing this only from a scientific standpoint, not a religious or anti-religious one. The kind of definite proof you are asking about theoretically WOULD change the world quite a bit, due to the fact Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism among others do not believe in ghosts. They believe in evil spirits that tempt, and of angels that help, but not of persons coming back from the grave to help or haunt. So were definitive proof of ghosts (not evil spirits) exist, then there would be a mad scramble worldwide to debunk the evidence, suppress knowledge, or rewrite many key religions. That would be the most likely outcome of this theoretical question ;) Just my guess

As far as hard evidence, I don't think so. All of the evidence I've ever seen could be considered questionable or unexplainable. But then again, how do you get definitive proof of ghost. If it ever was proven, I doubt it would do little to change society. Some people will never believe it.

through fact we don't have a scientific clarification for something does no longer teach/disprove the existence of God. It basically potential that we've not figured it out yet. i'm very bored with listening to theists characteristic something that may no longer conveniently explainable to God. whilst human beings, at one time, sailed to the East from Europe and did no longer return, it replaced into assumed that they fell off of the planet. all of us be attentive to now that it did no longer take place. all your info only depicts a phenomenon that has been repeated in many cultures, tremendously plenty for the era of background. often times we are able to describe what led to your "info", often times we won't. no longer something you have shown right here proves something in any respect.

There has been proof, and I don't see society changing at all. :)
