im going to a party that they said it would be nice if you could dress up renaissance. I was thinking jeans a kind of frilly 3 quarter length shirt with a vest over it . But i didnt know if that would be renaissance!

yeah they wear jeans.... lol why dont you wear like a long cloth skirt that ties... and lose the vest and put flowers in your hair so its more girlie

I would do a search for: Renaissance Faire's
That will give you an idea of thow they dressed.
note: they almost always wore some sort of head covering

Another option would be to call the person who is holding the party and see how "period correct" they are expecting everyone to be. Basically see how they are dressing and go from there.

NO JEANS! Long skirt, loose sleeved top, tight vest and slip on shoes (ballet kind). Maybe a wreath on the head or antique looking jewelry. But no jeans...geez.

Yes that would do it. It could also be a mix of victorian era which would mean lots of lace, corset like tops, low square necklines that show off your decolletage and boots.
