There is a product called Armor-Etch that can be used to decorate inexpensive glassware to make it more personalized and look like you spent a small fortune. A $4.00 set of wine glasses with etched designs will look like expensive designer glassware when you are done. Or a $2.00 vase will look like you bought it at a pricey department store. There is a starter kit with a small bottle of the etching creme and some stencils that will help you learn how to use it but believe me,it is so easy and fun,you will want to "etch" every bit of glass in your house. You can also make your own stencils with Contac paper and a craft knife if you don't find any you like. I found the kit at Michael's and the creme can be found at almost any craft store. It also works on mirrors.

Hey,
Having a 6 year old, I run in to this "dilema" every year. This year were making calendars. Its going to be a mixture of hand drawn pictures and photographs, we'll then go down to staples and get them all bound in tiume for the holidays. Last year we made candles (I wold not suggest that you do this with a child). The year before we make place mats. we went out and got some falen leaves, and laminated them into a "placemat" . HP.com, and lexmark.com have alot of resources you can use.
Good Luck!

Just open any mag and find dozens of them.
I am taking pictures of the fall foliage and frame them then adding some of the acorns from the trees here.
I have made couch pillows out of nice wash cloths by taking a crocheting hook and yarn by making fringe and pulling it through the edges and looping it, stuffing them. They are nice and washable.
That is just two but like I said every mag has them.

Try a gift basket (make it) - you can get really cheap yarn and crochet needles and put a print out out of a pattern for them to follow.
Or buy the ingredients for muffins and put them in a basket with a print out of a recipe.
Merry Christmas!

I give crocheted afghans or scarves or knitted slippers. Small photo albums of an event or a holiday are good. I made scrapbooks for my kids of their changing heights against a static background - photos I took over the course of their lifetimes.

Knit hats and scarves, if you can't knit there is a really cool gadget, it's a round loom (or a long loon for scarves), you can get one at Hobby Lobby or Michael's, or any craft store, very easy, quick and beautiful, I am starting next week and making them for my neices and nephews.....
