after system crash, i have re setup my pc again as if i was setting up a new computer. i didn't see any of my old files. i have tried running the data recovery cd, but it didn't work. what to do? urgent help, please. i want all my old files back.

If you reformated the disk that your files were on then you can try a utility at www.pctools.com to try and recover them. I doubt you will get all of them. If you used a different hard drive, you can install the old one as a slave or into a USB caddie to plug into the machine to access it.

dont know about this....i am actually going through the same thing right now and i tried resetting to a prior date but it would not even let me do that so i had to try to save my files to a flash disk while in safe mode and reformat the hard drive....dell is now sending me a new hard drive..sorry i cant help but i think once you reload the system thats it

I did the same to my wifes computer, afterwards she informed me she needed some pics that were on the system. I used a program called getdataback 3.02. I got almost all the pics she lost back.

it's obviously that all your files has gone . ofcourse coz u formatted your pc .. what did u expect. but when you re setup your pc you should choose an option that keep your original files not the complete install option.
