It depends on what you mean.

See, when the Democrats were in control, they did whatever they wanted without any concern for what the other side wanted. When the Republicans took control and tried to reach across the aisle, the Democrats filibustered so that nothing could happen.

So, based on past experience, I would not reach across the aisle. When they were in control, they made no effort to consider the "minority" opinion. I'd be happy to return the favor.

McCain has bought out to the backside of the party with a view to get nominated and to maintain the backside of the party in this election. He has replaced a great deal of his ideas so as that he can extra wholesome with the Conservative base of the Republican party. the guy would have a history of attaining over party lines yet on account that 2007 he's a replaced guy. it began while he went to Falwell's college to attempt to get returned interior the stable graces of the evangelicals. he's no longer the comparable McCain that replaced into the guy who reached around the aisle years in the past.

Character Check Memory Review. Post 2000 and 2004 the Liberals said that nothing would get in the way of their rightful return to power. Nothing did. Every Republican up for election was targeted from 2000 forward to today. Never in history has a party so resorted to lies, innuendo and mean spirited smears as has the Liberal Democratic party. Never in history has one party tried everything possible to help the enemy by revealing our tactics and our skills. Never in history has one party attempted to block the appointment of qualified men and women to Judgeships as have the Liberals.

Someone needed to set a good example back in 2000 and 2004. If in 2000 and 2004, if the Liberals had stood for their principles in an honest and forthright manor, they would have earned our respect. They did the exact opposite. With their win at any cost philosophy, Liberals have forfeited any expectation of respect .

The proper treatment for a rabid animal is not respect and cooperation.

If you mean, come together on common ground, of course. I have never felt otherwise.

However, there are many issues that I'm still concerned about, and I'm worried that the element in our country that has given rise to the current administration is very much alive and well. That element does not represent any aspect of human nature, or of America, that I want to see gain control in my country again. I'm so sick of the bigotry, hatred, and priggish, self- righteous moral certitude I hear being trumpeted by self-described 'patriotic Americans' that I've sworn a personal oath, to challenge them at every turn and opportunity I have.

I don't think complacency is a positive character trait, at all. There's work to be done...together if possible, divided if necessary. The elections won't change that. Anyone who thinks it will is kidding themselves.

Always have been always will.

Problem is though, if I fundamentally disagree with something, I'll still disagree. And there are alot of things I do agree on with Cons/R's. Problem is, the cons in power haven't delivered on those things-- e.g. balanced budget, fiscal responsibility.

Even lawmakers say that DC (and the country) has gotten much worse. It used to be that they'd debate and go at each other, but then find a way to compromise and make something happen. Problem now is the leadership has fostered a, "we're in charge, screw you" mentality and ram-rodded things thru congress. Bush and company started out as the "uniter-not divider" but quickly moved to the "steam roller, not discusser" after he was elected. This is well known.

Yes - If I were in an elected office, I certainly would. I think it is vital to work across "party lines" for the benefit of all Americans, and not allow this country to become so polarized.

In my private life, I don't ask people what party they are or how they voted. It's really none of my business. I try to respect them as individuals.

Yes. Tried of fighting. People choose their party based on their niche in life.

Im willing to "reach across the aisle" now and was before. I haven't met too many liberals willing to ever to the same if it means compromising what they want.
