You mean better overall game? I never saw Michael Jordan do anything Julius Erving didn't do 15 years earlier. And Dr. J didn't have to travel to do it. The NBA refs stopped calling "traveling" so that MJ could make his dunks & get people to come to games. Now take a look at how many players travel because of the MJ rule change. But Dr. J didn’t - watch ESPN Classic for the 1983 NBA championships when he was with the Sixers at the end of his career. Better yet, catch some old film of the ABA when he was in his prime w/the Squires & the Nets. He just didn't have the benefit of the media coverage that Magic, Bird & Stern brought to the NBA. When Erving was playing the NBA was a dying league - that's why the ABA even existed. And it's why the NBA game was changed to include some of the ABA rules like the 3 point shot, etc. They even had to take in the 4 ABA teams that are still around: Nets, Pacers, Spurs & Nuggets. Their following was bigger than some NBA teams.
BTW - After Dr. J, I'd put the Big O & Jerry West before MJ - & I think Magic was every bit as good as MJ. Too bad he didn't keep his marriage vows & ended up cutting his career short. Would've been amazing to see what he could've done for another 7 - 10 years in the NBA.

Their have been MANY players that were better "overall" than Jordan. The key word here people is overall. Jordan was probably one of the greatest "scorers" ever, but he also took more shots than anyone.
Larry Bird was a MUCH better overall player than Jordan was. If Bird shot as many times as Jordan, he would have scored just as much if not more times than Jordan. Plus, Bird played against better players and better teams than MJ.
Wilt Chamberlain was better overall than Jordan, as was Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson, And Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I'd even put Dr. J, Jerry West, and John Havlicek over Jordan. And players like George Gervin could score just as well as Jordan.
The difference between Jordan and these other great players is that MJ had the benefit of ESPN, AND 24 hour sports highlights. There has NEVER been anyone as over-hyped and promoted as Jordan, that's for sure!

What set Jordan apart was his intense will to win every single game. He was also very very smart.
Physically, there are many players like Carter, Kobe, LeBron and Wade who are as good as Jordan were. But none of them would give 100 % effort on both offence and defence on every single possesion. I personally don't blame them, 90+ games per year is very hard on your body and they still get paid even if they take a nap for a few possesions. However, Jordan will still be THE BEST ever 50 years from now.
Shortly, Jordan vs Dr.J: Jordan was a better shooter with 3-point range, somewhat stronger for his size and a much better perimeter defender. In fact, Jordan was one of the best one-on-one defenders ever and that sets him apart from Bird (whom I greatly admire), Magic and Dr.J.

It's a posibility that someone can have an overall over Micheal Jordon. For example, LeBron James has a shoot because he's young, strong and has a lot of potential. LeBron is light on his feet and a dinomight on the floor(the fastest on the court). His jump shoot has gottten way better since the first time he was playing for the Caves. King James knowlegde on the court is only gonna get better, and that's gonna take him to the top!
