i will be renting a car throughout europe and i was wondering if my radar detector from here in the US works on the same band/frequency? does anyone know? thanks!

Mostly, my Valentine 1 worked well in the UK, it picked up photo radar at long range, more than enough to slow down in time. The V1 also has Ku band support, in the US we have X, K and Ka. Ku was tested in the UK but is used in Europe.

Not sure about the band freq thing but am sure your detector will be going off all the time. They have radar systems everywhere connected to video cameras. This is especially true in the cities and highways. UK,France,Germany,some of Spain and Italy are littered with them. Best thing you could do is leave your lead foot at home.
