Yes. The point of letting kids be exempt from physical education is because they are already doing physical activity. I was an athlete in High school. This was only allowed for varsity athletes. For some sports, practice would start during the last period of the day, so you would either have PE or Study Hall during that last period. If you had study hall, the school would change your PE class to study hall. As soon as the season was over, the students have to go back to PE. This is basically designed so the athletes can take study hall instead of PE, because athletes spend countless hours a day training while having to keep grades up at the same time.

You would think that this class would be one of the athletes favorites. Unfortunly the state has guide lines that the schools must follow. The state requires so many credits of English, Math, Science, Health, Social Studies and Physical education class. In my state Physical education class included Health and half year PE.

Thats a hard question to answer. I know many of my fellow athletes dislike going to PE. (We -the sophomores- have it zero period, and that means getting up early everyday...ugh) During our season, we don't have to go to Athletics at all if we have it zero, and every other Monday if we have it in the afternoon...kinda varies with the teacher. I think the students need to get some of the health education in, but they shouldn't be required to go. We often could use the extra time to do homework or catch up on sleep. I know that when I have two-hour practices, that extra 1.5 hours instead of having PE can help me get alot of homework done. Soooo...maybe they shouldn't have to go to PE during their season.

No because they should have to go through the same exact curriculum as regular students. They should not be exempt from any activities or given special treatment because of their student athlete status.

In my school you don't have to take gym on gameday. It's really a none issue though because the athletes are the people who want to take gym and play the games.
