Dr. Gary Berger of Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center performs reversal surgery on many women who are over age 40, with pregnancy rates that are excellent. Although the natural fertility rate does decline as we age, it is still possible to become pregnant if you are ovulating and having periods. Dr. Berger has performed more than 5000 reversals. The surgery takes an hour and is done on an outpatient basis.

Many women who want to become pregnant again after a tubal ligation are over 40 years of age and want to know what their chances are of having another baby.
Although doctors often give pessimistic opinions about this, the Tubal Reversal Study at Chapel Hill Tubal Reversal Center gives encouring news for these women. Among women 40 and older the pregnancy rate was 40%. Although these rates are lower than for younger women, they show that as long as a woman is still ovulating, pregnancy is still possible regardless of age.

No it's not too old, although a tubal reversal is a tricky surgery and may not have the desired effect. Many women are having children in their 40's and older,. As long as you are up to it and take good care of yourself, their is no reason not to have a child. So get to having some more kids!

I don't think 40 is too old, but the medical risks to having a baby at 40 are high. Best to check with your Dr. and make sure you are a healthy candidate for pregnancy. Good luck to you!

I wonder how old your husband is. If he is your age or older I would recommend against your trying to have a child together for the health and happiness of the child. If you both are very healthy and strongly feel that this is right well it is your decision.

Think long and hard about that. I raised my children then adopted a girl when i was in my late 30s. I am now 50 and do not have the energy to do the things a teeneager needs.

40 isn't too old to have a baby but 55 is too old to be dealing with a mouthy teenager, lol. I could see you wanting a baby if you had never had one but c'mon you have 3 kids. Enjoy your life now!

As long as your doctor says it's okay, then go for it. Just make sure that you do all of the pre-natal diagnostic tests. Even if you don't believe in termination, then it can prepare you for any challenges that you may face with your little one. Good Luck!

It is different for each woman. Talk to your doctor. It depends on your health. My cousin, who is 36 is 8 months pregnant with her first baby. Good luck.
