I believe that everyone is a little judgmental when it comes to clothing. Some girls here at my university did a study where they dressed in dirty clothing and went into a store, they said they were basically ignored. But when the same girls went back to the same store dressed nicely in designer clothes they said that the sales people were extremely nice and asked if they needed any help.

Pretty often. Everyone does it. I try not to notice people generally, but clothes are a good indicator of how that person views themself, and how they want others to view them. Clothes are a part of culture. An emo kid will wear a Ramones T-shirt and jeans and sneakers with an iPod. A suit will wear a button-down shirt and nice slacks or a skirt, usually with a nice watch. A hipster will wear patterned fabrics and hand-made looking jewlery, possibly hemp.
You get my point, clothes are often indicative of the group that the person is a part of. Obviously, they're all individuals within that culture, but there are some characteristics that are more common in each group than in the general population, fashions ans musics and trends. Simple fact. We want to show the world who we are, so we dress in a way that we feel comfortable with.

first i do not judge people and then there is that saying that you can't judge a book by its cover this is true if you do you might miss out on a really good story this is true with people if you only look at a persons looks you will never know who this person is we all should look into the person and see who they really are to many people miss out on knowing a really good person because they judge them by what they wear or how they look thank you for this question.

You would probably find the same answer if you asked how often people expressed themselves through their clothing. People judge people. Whether its judgement by thier clothing, or by thier skin color, or wieght, sexual preference, or religion. That is the way society is. Whether people are going to be honest about the judgemental behavior is another issue.

Never judge a book by its cover. Same applies to people & clothes, some people can't afford designer clothes, & they are down to earth people & well educated.

My own preference is to judge someone by the clothes she isn't wearing. But that's just me.

I'm a natural people watcher, yet I wouldn't go so far as to say I would "judge" a person because of what they are wearing, it is much more interesting to watch thier mannerisms, expressions, and gasp!! (thier conversations) What a person is wearing has nothing to do with what kind of person they are, or how well you two would get along......anyways...guys, SHAME!!!!! LOL
