I have a long black dress with the split up one leg and I was wondering if it was acceptable to spice it up with some colored stockings? I have a pair of pink ones with the black seam down the back.

I guess I'm mostly interested in what my husband will think. He has never complained but I'm feeling a little spicy tonight. My only concern was being a fashon dork since we are going to a pretty nice restaurant.

I have done it many times and always get great feedback. I have deep pink stockings with seams and Cuban heel in black, and light pink the same way. I get them from stockingstore.com, and they are great looking and supper sheer, although they do need a garter belt. The ultra sheers never stay up by themselves , but every guy I know loves a garter belt anyway, and I think they are fun.

Don't listen to these fashion less frumps that want to go out for the evening like they are going to the beach. Hosiery, and especially stockings never went out of stile for evening wear for the sophisticated people, and hosiery is in more this fall than it has been for years.

If you are going to a formal affair, you can still wear the seams but ultra sheer black is the way to go. If you are going to a party, or a more gala event the pink stockings with black seams are great. I have even worn the kind with the full fashioned heel where not only is the seam black but the whole heel. Since I always wear real nylons with a garter belt, they are so sheer and elegant nobody can put them down, although they do cost $28.00 a pair.

Wear the stockings, and a garter belt too, if you really want to be sophisticated, Just make sure they are ultra sheer, and not the thick discount looking stuff they peddle at Walmart.

Don't listen the the crude bare foot women who say no no don't wear stockings. they haven't a clue! I can't stand the women who go around in evening wear and bare legs with their painted toes and think they are fashion setters. Maybe in LA but that the tack capitol of the world anyway.

I have worn the same thing and it is hot. If its very conservative gathering, just wear sheer black stockings but keep the seams. They are very Continental.

first of all i just want to say congratulations on your weight loss!! must be awesome! as for what to wear with your dress i think that the leggings would definitely look better than the stockings, especially since youre going to wear open toed shoes. and the leggings dont only apply with mini skirts. i wear them all the time with dresses and like the long sweaters that are everywhere now. but yeah your outfit sounds super cute and you'll look great for sure!!

Not if you are over the age of 5 and living in the year 2006. Colored hose have not been fashionable since the 1980's. Wear black or flesh toned hose.

No, it's not OK to wear pink stockings with a black dress. I know you are trying to put your own touch to the outfit but, you can do other things instead like a nice handbag or nice accessories. But whatever you do please do not wear those pink stocking.(lol)

Stockings are always in style for a feminine woman. Those who say they're not are definetly not feminine!
