For some reason, whenever I type in a web address in the address bar on the internet, I get a message that says "Internet Explorer has experienced a problem and needs to close", then it gives me the option to send the problem to be trouble shooted. The only way I can get to different websites is to type them in the search bar (or google them). Can anybody tell me why this is happening, or how to make it STOP!?

Try clearing your search history, close IE, launch it again and try.. if the problem persists, then some files associated with the same might have got corrupted and you might have to re-install IE again.. btw why not try another browser like Firefox or Opera which are not so much tightly integrated with the operating system like IE is
