you need to get together a portfolio so that you can show them exactly what you're made of. make sure you have a variety of pictures that shows you are flexible. a good photographer will know exactly what you need. then the next step is to approach agencies. let them see your portfolio and remember they are the experts so they know what they're talking about and what they're looking for. be careful too because there are a lot of fake agencies out there. if the agencies says they want to take more pictures of you then this will usually be free. if they say its going to cost you make sure you check this before agreeing to anything.
a god agency you could try is Storm Models. Their website is: www.stormmodels.com
The site even tells you what you need to have and what you need to do inorder to become a model.

I know a good website where you may contact many modeling agencies. Elite, IMG, Ford and other top agencies as well. Here you may create your profile for free. After becoming a member you will be able to contact agencies. There you will also find advertising and casting agencies. Its a good chance to get noticed by professionals of this business :)

Hi, I'm not sure where you're based but I work for a magazine and we do a fashion shoot every month. We use models from MOT Models (www.motmodel.com), Model Plan (www.modelplan.co.uk) and Target Models (www.targetmodels.com). I'd say either of these are quite good ones to start with because they're well established and very friendly without being as top notch as Models 1 and Storm. Good luck!

I don't know any modelling agencies but ask round any of the big name clothes stores such as Quiz, New Look or Debenams. Your picture could end up in a shop window one day. Good luck to you x

If you want to you could try searching for model agencies around your area and maybe you could go their and ask for advice...i notice you said "i've been told i should do modelling"?...so does this mean that it's something that interests you or is it something in the interests of other people?....if its the latter i think you shouldn't jump into modeling as its a tough profession....good luck anyway;)

Gather info or go for walk-in-interviews for well-established companies like Elite. Don't give upfront payment or send your photos/personal info in to any company beofre that. And refrain from meeting any single person face-to-face. Modeling companies don't work like that.
Good luck.

well im in the biz. my friend's mom works at a teen mag so my moms friend thinx im the most beuatiful girl in the world so she hooked me up w/that mag and i got pics taken and i was in the next issue. im not allowed to say what magazine though. but lots of girls that are *17* read it!! i also modeled a short time for abercrombiekids and still thinkin bout hollister!! i got my start from connections but you don't have to start from agencies. you can start from like competions. look it up on google!! the biz is really hard. girls try to be your friend in pageants(they r really trying to cheat you) trust me all those pageants i partcipated in, like 100 i won a lot of them. the trick is to not let people get to you. think about what you can do and vision yourself doing it. a really good agency is elite! i am in it currently!!

first, learn how to spell "modeling". second, don't go running into a modeling agency telling them to sign you. they won't build up your portfolio by PAYING photographers to take pictures of you, or looking for ones who are doing it for free. then post your portfolio on a modeling networking site.
