You can try to burn them out at night when they are sluggish. You can pour kerosene around it too, they don't like to walk through that.

Diatomaceous Earth for a non-chemical approach. This stuff will kill anything with an exoskeleton if it comes in contact with it. The problem may be in getting it deep enough into the ground. Sprinkle it on and then turn soil with a shovel, repeat, etc.

For chemical approach use Termidor termite control spray, it will work well. They don't realize they are tracking it in and it takes a few days to work so they will spread it throughout the colony before they start dying off.

For indoor use ONLY go with the Diatomaceous Earth and be SURE that it is a food grade.

Someone else recommended using DE with salt. ONLY do that if you do not want anything to grow in that spot EVER again. Salt with stop growth for many years.

Yes, wait until the ground freezes: (if it doesn’t freeze in you area wait until the coldest month of the year) pour a 1 cup salt and 1 cup of diatomaceous earth (should be able to get it at a garden or farm supply store) on the mound and dig it up… then soak the ground….
Be careful they do not run up the handle of your shovel or up your leg when you do it!
