Actually, just divide 10 by 2. X=5. Its one of those rules for solving equations: You can divide both sides by any number.

In this case, 2 divided by 2 is 1 so one side is X times 1, or just X.

The other side is 10 divided by 2, which is 5.

You are left with X=5

I hope you are in 6th grade to be asking such a question. TO get the x by itself you bring the two under then ten, then divide 10 by 2....thus getting 5
