Alcohol prohibition was tried once with disastrous results. It's a surprise that we've allowed the current drug war to continue even though the outcome is the same (largely ineffective, leading to trampling of civil rights, increase in crime & gang activity).

Good question. I have wondered for a long time why weed is considered a dangerous drug, but alcohol is perfectly fine. Weed never led anyone to engage in violence and other stupid behavior that is part of the drug called alcohol. How hypocritical is that?
