Does anyone know some alternative treatments that may help someone that suffers from anxiety and panic attacks?

I highly recommend a book called Feelings Buried Alive Never Die. There is a simple emotional release technique described in the book that, when done each day for 5-10 minutes, can help ease extreme emotional upsets and even some physical ailments associated with emotional problems.

I've used this example before in another answer, but I'm going to use it again:

I live in small, cramped quarters and often find myself bumping into things. When I bumped into things in the past I would immediately become OVERWHELMINGLY ANGRY. The anger troubled me greatly, much more than the momentary pain from bumping into things. I used the emotional release technique in the book and I've not been angry from bumping into things again.

Also, I used to suffer with chronic, ever present anxiety/guilt feelings. I used the technique for that as well and I've felt peaceful and content with my life and circumstances and relationships overall since.

I believe I will have to continue to use the technique, but it's totally worth it! Please look into it!

Definetely go see a Psychiatrist! I did and in my opinion that was the only thing that helped me with my Panic Attacks! I was really bad. I would get the feeling like I had to run out of everywhere I went, feel like I was choking, and worse I would always feel scared for no reason with the worst heart pounding feeling in my chest. Oh did I forget to mention that with all these feeling I was also VERY DIZZY and ALWAYS felt like I was going to faint! Seriously take it from someone who knows....go see a Doctor. Plus Medicatiosn work too.....either an ANti-Depressant or a Tranquilzer (such as Ativan)...This is what I used.....and pretty much the only thing that helped me feel like I was sane. Good Luck!

It sounds like you may have a Magnesium deficiency. Magnesium has a calming effect on the nervous system. With this, it is frequently used to promote good sleep. But more importantly, it can be used to calm irritated and over-excited nerves. This is especially useful with epileptic seizures, convulsions in pregnant women and the 'shakes' in alcoholism. Magnesium levels are generally low in alcoholics, contributing or causing many of their health problems. If magnesium levels are low, the nerves lose control over muscle activity, respiration and mental processes. Nervous fatigue, tics and twitches, tremors, irritability, hypersensitivity, muscle spasms, restlessness, anxiety, confusion, disorientation and irregular heartbeat all respond to increased magnesium levels. A common phenomenon of magnesium deficiency is a sharp muscle reaction to an unexpected loud noise. 'Memory pills' have been marketed that consist mainly of magnesium. Many of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease can be overcome with high magnesium supplementation, shaking can be prevented and rigidity eased. With preeclampsia pregnant women may develop convulsions, nausea, dizziness and headaches. In hospitals this is treated with magnesium infusions. Because of its strong relaxing effect, magnesium helps not only to have a better sleep but is also useful in overcoming headaches and migraines. Even the number of suicides are linked to magnesium deficiency. The lower the magnesium content in soil and water in a given region, the higher are the rates of suicides. You can buy Magnesium Chloride at any health food store or vitamin shoppe.I take 520 mg 3 x a day and it's worked wonders for me.I haven't had a panic attack in years. Before I started on the Magnesium Chloride,I had them all the time. You'll see different types of Magnesium products on the shelves.Non of them work as well as Magnesium Chloride.

I take a vitamin supplement called B-complex it helps with any stress, nervousness, anxiety or panic issues;mood swings, depression of any severity. If you want to try this at first you may have to go with 3 tablets daily they recommend 2 . If 2 doesn't work try three.

I too suffer from panic attacks and I've found one thing that helps me each and every time.
No matter how bad it feels; how intense it is... you will not die. Your body has just overreacted to something that it normally shouldn't... but it will calm down soon enough =)

You can try relaxation techniques such as meditation and deep breathing. Some times a good exercise program can help also. Good luck.
