Well, this has happened to me on many occasions. It might help to try and play around with the zipper, try fitting the zipper pull right on teh clothe side (not straight at the teeth) then try pulling it to run on the teeth. This might take a while so yeah. You could try going to some fabric/sewing supply shop to get a new zipper. And if youre careful, you can try and take out the orginal zipper thing (carefully) and undo it completely by the side with no metal block thing on the end (theres one end without the metal block). Play around with it and re-adjust the pull and then sew it back up. This all might be confusing but yeah, hope I helped!

Purse zippers are not often worth the time or effort it takes to repair. But, if you're really attached to it, you have to remove the entire zipper and put in a new one. If you don't know how, you can take it to a shoe repair shop (if it's leather) or a seamstress and they can usually fix it for you for a nominal fee.

Old trick. Take a double edge razor blade and slit one side of the zipper nearest the beginning. Now you can insert the zipper and zip right up. I learned this in high schools in the 1960's.
