To me, that would mean the 17th. The 10th would be "this Friday" or just "Friday."

It's Sunday, the 5th. What is the next Friday coming up? The 10th. The 17th is "Friday of next week.' Period: Clear, no confusion.

I always figure that "this Friday" means the upcoming Friday, which in this case would be the 10th, and "next Friday" means the following Friday or the 2nd Friday, which in this case would be the 17th. Hope that helps... I understand this frustration!

I think it would mean the 17th. If I were to want it to mean the 10th, I would call it "this Friday".

the 10th would be "this friday"
and the 17th would be "next friday"

normally it means the 17th, because friday wud just be the 10th. if they say on friday, we did this and that, obviously it wud mean the 3rd, but if they say on friday were gonna do this and that its the 10th. theres no reason to say next friday for the 10th because the rest of the sentence in which it is tells if it was the last or is the upcoming friday.
e.g.
We went shopping on friday (3rd nov.)
were going shopping on friday (10th nov.)
were going shopping next friday (17th nov.)

I would think they mean the 17th.
They can say "Friday", which is in 4 days.
If I hear "next Friday", I think the week after this.
Easiest just to say the date, though. Or "in 12 days..."

A week from the up coming friday
This friday means-10th
Next Friday means-17th
When you hit Sunday (12th)it changes
This friday-19th
Next Friday-26
Even if you have past the friday but you are still before friday it still is the same as if you were on the same friday

hey.... c this for urself..... i mean, in the usual way, if sumone says "the cuming friday" or "this friday" it means the 10th. And if they say "the next friday", it means the 17th. Most of the ppl hav their own ways.. like sum ppl don even noe wat's "this friday" or " the coming friday", as they uaually call it the "next one". I fell that the way most of the ppl and me hav explaind it is the right way to go bout it....... i can jus say that now, the ball's in ur court.
