Deoxyribonucleic acid.
it is - nucleic (found in the nucleus of cells).
a polymer of nucleotides (a polynucleotide). A nucleotide consists of a nitrogenous base ( adenine, guanine, cytosine or Thymine) and a phosphate group on a ribose sugar backbone.
A ribose sugar is a 5 carbon molecule consisting of a 5- sided ring of 4 carbon and 1 oxygen with an aldehyde group) and in the case of DNA, there is one less hydroxyl group (-OH) than ordinary ribose hence - deoxyribose.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions for the biological development of a cellular form of life or a virus. All known cellular life and some viruses have DNAs. DNA is a long polymer of nucleotides (a polynucleotide) that encodes the sequence of amino acid residues in proteins, using the genetic code.
