If you are talking about Margret Thatcher then its hard to know where to begin. She took away the rights of workers by diminishing the strength of the trade unions. She created mass unemployment by closing down much of our heavy industry such as steel making, ship building and mining. Hench she was able to rule with a iron fist. Sadly Tony Blair and his New Labour party have done little to right the wrongs she did with the exception of introducing the minimum wage. I do not think that replies you have had in support of Margret Thatcher are from people who worked in heavy industry at the time she was PM, unless they were on the board of directors.

Who's Ms Tatcher?
If you mean Mrs Thatcher well I'm glad she's not in power anymore, she did some really bad things that caused a lot of long term hardship for the poor and less fortunate in British society. Things like privatising everything (leaving us at the mercy of greedy businessmen), closing all the mines, cutting funding to the NHS, selling off council houses and the like. (That has resulted in a severe shortage of affordable housing which has left many British families homeless to this day.)
She really only cared for the rich and did a lot of damage to the welfare state and NHS etc in this country, from which it has never recovered. She seemed to want to punish people for being poor, even though most of them were poor because of HER policies(remember the days of 3 million unemployed?) Btich! She would have been better suited to America than the UK where that sort of attitude is more prevalent. I hear that the Yanks seem to like her.
In other ways she was a bit more gutsy than our present joke of a government. I don't think she would have put up with the Muslim terrorists and out of control immigration in this country.
But I'm not a fan of hers and never really will be.

To Somdeep - Mrs Thatcher did not have a son die in the Falklands war. She left that to other poor souls. I wish people would try to at least pretend to research their answers.
Great Britain was still great during her government. She was a very unpopular lady in some quarters but was not afraid to stand by her principals. As she once said in a speech "The lady is not for turning". Once she had made up her mind it was set in stone & nothing would move her.

She led the country in the correct direction for the time - unlike this awful government under Blair. Her word could be trusted, this country became economically successful. Now Labour is squandering the hard won competitiveness that was created under Margaret Thatcher. Low taxes and fairness - we could do with her back.

She killed loyalty, she destroyed many industries and sowed the seeds of destruction for many other industries.
The old saying that whilst rich men feed, there are many crumbs for the poor changed. Even the crumbs were stolen by the new breed of fat cat.
In days past, a traitor was beheaded and the head placed on a spike for all to see.
They now reward traitors with baronetcies.

That clown who palgiarised all the rubbish out of 'Thatcher for beginners' : there was no election in 1984 you twerp.
She was a ******* cow who destroyed the North of England (among other things). And also, France's desicion to buck the idiotic trend of 100 hour weeks is what is causing unemployment, the rest of the market (Britain, USA...) is undercutting the investment possibilities. The French are just more interested in living rather than working.

when thatcher took over there were three million unemployed so she tampered with the figures and set the groundwork for todays mess by destroying the production base. we 5 and a half million people working on government payroll i think its all those in prison i dont know the figures for that and 9 million on benefits,
thats about 14 plus million out of real work where you can keep your family without benefits. and thatchers started it and ruined the country

Mr Blair need I say more. He has destroyed a great country and will leave us at the mercy of Europe. She did things we did not like but she stuck up for Britain something new Labour has never done.

She was one of the great prime ministers of 20th century. She was tough, and needed to be, to save the country from being driven into a stagnant soviet style economy by a gang of union bully boys. Having visited the Falklands, I know that the people there are very greatfull to her for saving them from the Argentinian invasion.
