Why is it such a problem to have to present ID when you want to vote? All the things most states require, you should already have anyway. I mean, a utility bill? Anyone should have that! By the way, you had to use some form of identity to get that, so why weren't people up in arms then?

As for long lines, why should they be any longer than the ones you stand in at the grocery store, or when you apply for your tag? That is the lamest excuse.

I don't see it as such a big problem.
But a utility bill? Seriously.....those could be stolen from your mail box. it should just be drivers license/state id/military id.

The "huge deal"is what type of identity. in case you're on Medicare, the government sent you a card, an identity and your physician accepts it as information of your eligibility everywhere interior america of a. each and each state ...mostly Republican legislatures...make up their very own rules approximately what's appropriate. i'm able to't use my militia identity in my state. sure, I somewhat have a cutting-edge driving force's license, yet hundreds of thousands don`t. There are areas in this u . s . the place state places of work which could subject proper IDs are merely open some hours each and every week! And the place they are merely open 8 to 5. That makes it demanding on people who don't have their very own motor vehicle or paintings out of city to get an appropriate identity. in certainty one state would not settle for the badges their best city issued to their workers! a lot of blacks paintings for the city, you recognize. to boot, the form has no requirement for a voter to have a state issued identity. the place are all the Constitutional pupils in this?

In certain districts they check every ID, which causes very long lines. In Ohio in 2004, there were some lines that were 2 hours long just to vote. If you are a working person, you know it is hard to have to stand in line for 2 hours to vote. So if, note I said if, they decided to check IDs only in certain areas, then they could create long lines and keep people from the polls.

The Dems want it to be possible to cast votes based only on having utility bills, because just about everyone in the US (including the illegals) have utility bills. This way they can actually get more votes--even though the the votes are not coming from our citizens! Of course they don't really care about who gives them the vote--just that they get it. You have to love the fact that other countries can influence our elections in this manner!

I agree come on now most people are for this I believe. We have to show our ID so often anyways whats one more going to hurt. The ones opposing it are just trying to circumvent the system and get illegal votes.

I guess some people don't want to protect the elections from voter fraud.
Why would we want people to vote who are too irresponsible to have a picture id?

There have ben countless reports, including a government study issued this summer that does not show any instance where their have been any semblance of fraud, but the absentee ballots method may need to be looked at.

I don't know why anyone would be opposed to a rule to stop cheating unless they themselves were the ones cheating. Thank God my state has a voter ID law (Indiana). Of course, the Dems say it is....what for it........here is comes.......unfair.
