Then something was damaged when it fell in the soup. You may want to take it to the retailer to see if there is anything they can do to fix it. Don't tell them you dropped it in soup as liquid damage voids the warranty on most phones.

When i dropped my phone in the sink it stopped working altogether! I took the sim and battery out and put it in the airing cupboard and by some miracle it worked again!

Try taking it out of the soup. Failing that use an earpiece.

I think this needs a serious answer. What flavour soup was it, what brand and was it in a mug or a large cup?

You have a film of soup across your receiver and/or transmitter!
Get a new phone, they're cheap enough!

Put your lips over the ear piece and give it a good suck - that should sort it. (Best wait until you're feeling a bit peckish)
