Normally the series bible would have an answer and the show's danger is this: a story that could have been resolved in three seasons, gets extended by irrelevant sub-plots, thus losing interest of the the original fanboys. ratings drop and the guys who conceived the show (let's call them j.j for short) get better deals in cinema and run off taking the ending with them.
result: a contrived and truncated climax is season 5 at best. Last season with a cliffhanger and an online petition for a direct to dvd release at worst.
After Twin Peaks and X-Files, I feel hurt.....and very lonely

I've read or heard somewhere that there will be a total of 5 tv series and then a movie and that's it. The producers are adamant that they know exactly where it's going but they better have a bloody good reason as to why the Others are there and what it's got to do with those numbers and a bloody polar bear (who's agent obviously didn't negotiate him a good enough contract to appear in series 2).

I have been watching the show since it first ran.
I like the plots and the way it keeps me on the dge of my seat at times.
I read that the show was only supposed to air 5 or 7 episodes but because of the high ratings..it will continue to make new plots and stories.
If all the questions were answered then the show would be over with.

I remember hearing that the creators of the show decided from the beginning there would be seven seasons of Lost.
On one hand I hope it never ends because I am addicted to it but on the other hand, I would like to have SOME answers and that probably won't happen until the last season!!

Supposedly, it was to last for approx 1 year, but because of its popularity the writers have been told to extend and add to it. There is an ending which tells us all etc but so many things have been added in the middle that i am not sure now what will happen. Whatever happens i am loving it and have just downloaded from series 3 and its brilliant. The new tosses and turns in and that Henry is just soooooooooo evil.

I love Lost.
The writers are either very, VERY good at their jobs or they're just extremely lucky that we all watch it.
I think I'm going to miss season three since it's on sky and I don't have sky (!) Arrgh!
I think it's beginning to make more sense now (the whole dharma thing) from what I've seen of season three on the internet. But I'm boycotting e4 for being disloyal to their most faithful viewer (erm, ME) by not out-bidding SkyONE. e4 is just going downhill... It's really not worth having anymore until they buy some new tv shows. I wish I had Sky..................

The producers originally only wanted it to go on for 5 seasons, but I'm thinking ABC will not want to get off the gravy train so easily.

Personally, I think there's a tortoise sitting somewhere on beach writing the script. There just must be because the plot is so slow and plodding. I'd be quite happy if series three was the final one.

I foresee no possible ending. I am beginning to get very frustrated by the show. I love it, but they keep bringing up more questions without revealing anything. I no longer find myself looking forward to Wednesday nights the way I had the last two seasons.
