If you don't have proper ID how do you prevent ineligible people from voting?

Some Democrats feel that having to show ID could dissuade lower income people from voting because they do not have the ability to get a proper form of identification.
Many states have put out ads that state that when they check Id's at the polls they will also be checking for outstanding warrants, unpaid motor vehicle tickets and unpaid parking fines. This is also to dissuade certain groups from voting.

I am not a Democrat, nor am i from a lower income family, but I haven't had a chance to get my license renewed and the utilities are in my husbands name. Luckily, I have a bank statement. That is the only way I am eligible to vote in this election. See you at the polls.

And for the guy above, I am not too lazy to get an ID, I have three kids, a job, I go to school full time and my husband works 56 hours a week...tell me when you will come babysit and I'll get my ID renewed!

The most obvious reason is that according to neutral polls, thousands if not tens of thousands of minority voters (eligible citizens) don't have proper ID. And most of those voters would be voting Democrat if allowed to vote.

By imposing strict ID requirements, especially just a few weeks before the election, Democrats would lose thousands of votes.

That's why.

Heres the simplified answer: It is your constitutional right to vote, PERIOD. It is free of charge, and free of requirements other than those listed in the constitution. The requirement that a person show ID in order to vote violates the constitution because you have to PAY THE DMV in order to obtain an ID, and because the constitution does not require that you show ID, or that you pay, in order to vote. Its really very simple. It acts as a barrier for impoverished voters...and you and I both know what party they vote for.

The say that it will prevent people to vote, which is not true. If you are so lazy, that you won't get a photo ID to vote, then that is your fault, and I don't want the elections compromised because of your laziness.

They consider one of their voting blocks to be poorer and uneducated people. Anything that might seem like a "government roundup" or "conspiracy" to these people, Dems think, would keep them away from the polls.

Because the democratic party is working to preserve the US constitution not subvert it. The privacy rights of the constitution were a specific of the writers.

Up the Constitution and down with a Republican rubber stamp Congress.
