My sweet boyfriend is a die-hard Steelers fan. Their performance this year just keeps on tearing his heart out and stomping on it... How can I comfort him? Up to now I've been too scared to say anything b/c it might bring him more pain. I personally do not have a team preference. Thanks!

WOW, I need to find a gf like you, very sweet of you to do this research. Truth of the matter is he just needs time. A little space after the game and some time to realize that it is just a game and there is always next week. BUT don't remind him of these points, he must realize them himself. =)

I am a huge Steelers fan and I have to agree with Slim Hick, your man needs to suck it up. Sure I get pissed when the Steelers lose, especially because the marjority of the losses are because of turnovers. The Steelers won the superbowl last year, and that should be comfort enough to him, and aside from that we don't have a bad team this year, it's just mistakes and once they figure out how to fix them they'll be back to kicking ***.

Just remind him, "You Just Won The Freakin Super Bowl! Quit Cryin'" Take to a sports bar with diehard Lions/Browns/Cardinals fans and he'll see what sorrow really looks like. Remind him that they still have a good team and they will be back next year. And the year after that.

Being a Browns fan I can feel his pain. It differs for different people. I know for me when we don't win (every weekend) I don't want to be bothered or talk about it. Never under any circumstances say that they (the steelers) suck or anything bad about them. It will just make him even more irate.

Wow he is a lucky guy.

Nothing you can do. Just give him some time after the game to relax and absorb the loss. Maybe cook him some food or desert. Maybe go for a walk or something like that simple to let him unwind.

I am a Steeler's fan. Tell him to suck it up! Pittsburgh doesn't allow sissies to be fans.

On a nicer note: We still have five Superbowl rings. One bad year will be OK. At least the Bungals are sucking, too.

You can tell him that the NFL system is designed to have parity so that every team will be on top for awhile and the Steelers will be back.

Just buy him a 12 pack every game and by the end of the game he really won't care if they lost.

Pittsburgh, PA (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Pittsburgh courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
