I quit for three weeks before and could have stayed quit except I gave into a thought to get a pack when I was really stressed out.
I regret that move. It only took one cigarette to get me hooked again. I can tell you that to be smoke free for three weeks, what I did was pray and ask God to help me. I said, I can't do this on my own, and I am asking for help. So, I threw the half filled pack in the trash and didn't smoke for three weeks. So, if you have decided to quit that you're sick of the habit I know you can do it, just be prepared for the thoughts like I had and don't give in to them. I wish you all the best...

The main thing is to stay away from situations where smoking comes naturally to you. For example, if you like to smoke after eating, take a walk instead. My main problem was being around people on smoke breaks. I just made sure i was not around when people were smoking. It's a tough thing no matter what.

You really have to want to, and not be doing it because someone else is forcing you to.
If you have strong will power, try this:
Think of the person who means more than anything in the world to you. Especially children or dependent.
Promise to yourself on that persons life, that you will quit.
Imagine how it would be for them, if you were no longer alive.
You will quit.
*That's how I did it cold turkey after 17 years of smoking a pack a day.
Good luck.

Set a Date Jan 3rd is good.
Talk to yourself and to others about quiting on that date. Every day talk to yourself about quiting. Go over the problems and the benefits.
By Jan 3rd you will be more than ready to quit and you will be prepared for anything!
I used this to help me quit 2pkgs per day I have quit for over 5 years. The first couple months were rough but I was prepared..
Good Luck !!!!!!!

Way to go!!! Try gum and hard candy. Buy some cinnamon sticks to hold in your hands, it won't kill you if you suck on it. And try the patches, it will keep you from wanting to kill someone, just be sure to follow the directions. Last just think that in seven years your lungs will be pink and healthy again, not to mention your whiter teeth, fresher breath, better sense of taste and overall better health. Best of luck to you, you can do it, we're all praying for you.

Drink lots of fluids. Your likely to either gain or lose weight but that's normal. You can make up for it when you quit, just don't worry too much. If you start craving, chew some gum. It helps me when I get cravings for chocolate. o.o

I heard you should not plan your quiting day. Just stop now - apparently, it works better that way.
Nicotine patches can lessen the withdrawl symptoms.
