I went for too long one time without sleep because I was working 70-80 hours a week and ended up falling asleep behind the wheel of my car. I ended up totaling my car by driving it into a ditch full of water. Not good! That's reason enough for me to sleep - besides the fact that I get really grouchy when I'm tired.

It is the natural requirement of our body. A normal human body requires spme rest to rejuvenate itself before it can take up another assignment. The requirement of sleep may vary from 6 to 8 hrs for a normal human. Few yogis however can manage with 3-4 hours of sleep.

Human body is just like a machine. Just like machine after functioning requires overhauling, sleep is required for human beings to rejuvenate and become active. All the senses become very active after a sound sleep and one can perform well.

Sleep is a necessary function. You can get sick or die without enough sleep. Without enough sleep it causes your body to work harder. This opens you up for disease or sickness.
