Start out with One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. I've bought this book for at least 8 smart, fun women and not one of them hasn't loved it and bought the rest of the series.

Try "Special Topics in Calamity Physics" by Marisha Pessl. I just finished it and I adored it. Not a light of a read at 400+ pages, but it has got everything...comedy, drama, intrigue. It is fantastic and the first real page turner I've read in a long time.

The Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum Series make me laugh out loud regularly. They would be a great start.

You might like Julia Alvarez if you haven't already heard of her. Her books are really cute. You also might like the Nerds books by Vicky Lewis Thompson. I hope I helped.
