I think you read about the theory that if you stop your periods by either pregnancy or pregnancy and breastfeeding, your chances for certain cancers are reduced (breast, ovarian) the theory is that the less a woman menstruates during her reproductive life, the less chances of these hormonal imbalances. The "natural" way to stop the menstruation (temporarily) or at least the ovulation is by interrupting it with pregnancy or breastfeeding.
But different women have different family histories and health issues. For some women, yes, the pregnancy and birth will be too traumatizing and they should not go through it too many times. For "average" women a pregnancy is normal and healthy, and does not require a lot of interventions. Not all women are like this, and some are better off to have fewer pregnancies. Only a doctor can really tell.
There are many drawbacks to having "too many" pregnancies (too many being different for each woman) one is the stretching of muscles leading to a possible prolapse of the uterus (can be helped or prevented with kegel exercise).

Some women do have more dental problems while pregnant. Stretchmarks are determined by genetics, mainly, unfortunately... but you can minimize it by slow weight gain, keeping hydrated, using lotions or oils, etc. Women probably do get stronger once they have a child- our carseat alone is over 20 pounds, so add a baby to that, and carry it around a while, and it's definitely going to build up your muscles. LOL. A woman's body is made to have children. While there may be some negative effects, it's something that's completely natural and normal. However, having children very close together can hurt your health more- as in, having children only 9 months apart or so.

having babies is a choice. some women have a lot of babies so that someone else can support them. some women never think of the consequences of having lots of babies, in their lives, in their struggle, or in environmental problems, etc. As far as having babies is a health benefit I'd say no since some women come out of the experience fraught, in depression, loss of hair, loss of muscle tone, etc. etc. not to mention the pain of childbirth. I have known of women though say that they just loved the "attention" they got from being pregnant, i.e. the baby itself was not the important thing in their life, and to get the attention again they get pregnant again. I suspect this kind of response is because of lack of attention as a child and these folks have a problem. I don't think having babies has anything to do with life span, plus there's always the risk that the child might not be healthy, and, if the child is stillborn then a woman would go into despair. So, a lot of things can happen..

It really depends on your family history. Some women it's good for them and some it isn't. The only thing I know for sure is it isn't good is to have them too close together. It doesn't give the body enough time to adjust if you have them too fast.

Having children and breastfeeding are both protective of breast cancer. Pregnancy also helps to prevent ovarian cancer because it gives the ovaries a rest. It probably would be hard on your body if you had children closely spaced. Rose Kennedy had about 10 children and lived to be over a hundred. I imagine having nannies and servants helped.

It is good for you. The woman's body was created to be able to handle tons of births. So don't worry.
