then fight them using chemical materials

Some ants have immunities to poison because they are overused. ALL ants leave scent trails. Use a lot of soap and water to remove them from counters. Clear out any unsealed food for a couple days, maybe a few weeks. Cayenne Pepper and Peppermint Oil drive ants crazy in a bad way. Use this to form chemical barricades. It doesn't work amazingly, but it works.

Seal the holes they are coming out of. They may dig new ones.

Ants are an old and wise species. One of the oldest species on the planet. They didn't get where they are now without some nifty adaptation. This might be an ongoing battle.

Sadly, the best natural remedy is a jar of spiders.

Word of caution: if they are pharoah ants, DO NOT kill them on the spot; which means no squishing them, no spraying them or anything else. Killing one pharoah ant will bring two more. Use a proven bait that they will bring back to their nest. (Somebody mentioned Terro; that stuff is pretty good.) But if you squish them or spray them, you will have more trouble than you started with. Be patient. Treat all the areas you think they might be. In three or four days they should be all dead. It wouldn't hurt to treat your place again after about a week or two, just to be sure.

I have used this remedy for years, buy some 20 Mule Team Borax laundry soap, put the dry soap in one of the cheap ketchup squirt bottles that you can find at any Dollar store, you may have to snip the tip off of it to make the hole a little bigger.....apply along baseboards, bottom of cabinets, along the back spalsh of your sink and also around the drain pipe under the sink. leave the soap lay for a few days until you no longer see any signs of the ants, then vacuum up the remaining soap, the ants will carry it back to their nest and it will kill them......plus you have the rest of the laundry soap to do laundry with....

I live in Spain and we always have problems with Ants, we have tried just about everything, like you I am very clean, I vacuum the carpets daily but we still get them, the only thing which has helped to keep them down is by putting everything like Cereal into airtight containers, they cant smell the food from them.

Good Luck

Get Raid powder and insert in along the edges of the wall and check behind all doors for any open cracks etc and close them- they are usually the source. You need to sprinkle the powder anywhere there is an open gap. This will really stop them coming- no doubts!

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water. I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.

Get a spray bottle and mix water and vinegar . 3 parts water and one part vinegar . Spray around base board s and other f"favorite" areas of theirs. They may be coming in from outside. You can take an old sock and soak it in the vinegar mix, wring them out and then place them in the exterior door jambs for a few days. I had an exterminator want to charge me $250 to take care of the problem and then my 75 year old aunt told me about the vinegar solution and it worked!

I've personally found Chinese Chalk best for bugs in the house. Simply make sure it's around the entire perimeter inside. It's not toxic to pets or humans but bugs walk through it and eventually die. They quickly get message and won't return. This may take several days and applications, but stay with it.

There are several things that come to mind from when I lived in the southern states. We used coke soda, grits or Epsom salt. The ants eat any of these it causes them to explode.

The only immediate action for ridding your house of ants is to cover them in talcum powder. Its sounds dumb but it works instantly. Just get a big tub of it pour it all over the ants. Then you just vacuum them up - no mess!

Guaranteed!!!
