Oh Firestorm, your childish understanding of our legal system, and in particular the concept of judicial review - is adorable. Yeah, abortion is legal? Why? Because the Supreme Court says so. And it looks like even our new Justices are going to choose to uphold abortion as a woman's right...because they understand the constitution. That is, after all, their job.

Giving the baby up for adoption is a good thing killing a innocent unborn child that didnt ask to be born is terrible did you know that there is a high risk that a woman that has had a abortion can never have a baby again. How about if you end up getting with a woman you really love and she cant even have kids because shes had a abortion is that still a good thing!?

Abortion is not now, nor has it ever been legal, Marco.

In this country, we establish laws one of two ways.

The first is through the legislature. The president or any member of the congress (house of representatives OR the senate) can make a proposal to be voted on by the senate. If the senate approves, it is then passed on to the house. If the house approves it, it can then be sent on to the president to be signed into law, OR the president can veto the bill and send it back to start the process again.

This was not the case with abortion law.

The second way a law can be made in this country is by ballot. An individual or group can make a petition and try to get supporters to sign the petition. If enough signatures are collected, that proposal then makes its way onto a ballot. If the people approve, it is automatically adopted into law. If not, it is not.

This never happened with Abortion.

What we saw in the Abortion case was judicial fiatte. The Supreme court ruled that a woman has the right to choose. "Roe V. Wade" is an example of legislation from the bench and violation of the seperation of powers. Courts have only the power to interpret and enforce the law. They do not have the power to write laws.

Thus, I contend that abortion is illegal. :) I hope this helps you to understand.

And BTW, Norma McCorvey, the "Roe" of Roe V. Wade is now an active leader in the fighrt AGAINST this illegal and frankly dangerous proceedure.

And BoardingJD, please prove to me how I am wrong...

Some people say the Earth is flat. Consider the source. BTW: Abortion is never a good thing - contraceptives are a much better choice.

I don't think anyone says it is illegal. I think they say it SHOULD be illegal.

Maybe they say it is immoral.

Most abortion opponents are clearly aware of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. They are looking to overturn that decision. Until then, they realize that it is legal.

People who say abortion is illegal do not have an open mind about things. They want you to be misinformed so that you don't do something THEY do not want you to do. I feel that abortion should be your own choice. If you choose to have the procedure done, then so be it. No one else knows your situation better than you do.

Because they want it to be legal up to a minute before birth.

it is.. most doctors however depending on what country you are from will not do an abortion in the second trimester.. then you are stepping on the boundaries of morality... but no it's completely legal and should be... not for stupidity but for rape victims, incest victims, the mother's health, etc...
