Two nights in a row now I have dreamed that I was hiding from someone who was trying to kill me or hurt me.

Does that have some type of meaning or could it have been from a real life experience?

When I was a very, very young child, I witnessed violence when my father beat up my mother. I have always seemed to live a "fight of flight" state and I have always been afraid of someone breaking in my house and hurting me - particularly while I sleep.

In kindergarten I remember telling my classmates that my father chased my mother around a chest of drawers with a knife in his hand. It is strange, but I don't remember an incident like that, but I remember telling my friends about it.

Thanks for your help!

I really need some answers here, so I appreciate your help!

It is so obvious that you have sense of insecurity around you. Based on your family background. It is no surprise that you would dream that.

You have lived in fear in your life especially experience about father trying to hurt mother. Basically, the shadow of this incident lived in your subconscious mind. It will not completely clear. and dreaming of hiding from someone is a way to release your helpless conscience.

I always think that a dream had more than one time is a communication dream. (your subconscious communicating with your conscious mind) (a dream had once is a release dream or a dream where you are dumping stuff out of your subconscious). Can you see who is chasing you? The fact that you have tied this to a past experience speaks volumes. You can program your dreams by asking before you fall asleep for answers. Don't be afraid. Confront your chaser. You are in controll even in your dreams. Ask, why are you chasing me? Your answer should come to you. It could be your fears expressing themselves. If so let them come out and acknowledge them.

Dreams sometimes are your brains way of preparing you for something that you fear. If you are constantly fearing someone trying to break into your house and hurting you (but it has never happened) your brain will put you through that scenario in your dreams so you can experience it before it happens. You act in the dream as you would in real life. Basically, you are being trained by your brain. Weird, eh?

Does that make sense to you?

This seems like a pretty clear-cut case of re-living childhood experiences in a dream.

You say you live in a constant "fight or flight" state. This is not healthy. Have you talked to a mental health professional? They may be able to help you.

Dreaming that your house is broken into, suggests that you are feeling violated. It may refer to a particular relationship or current situation in your life. Alternatively, it indicates that some unconscious material is attempting to make itself known. There are some aspects of yourself that you have denied.

hope this helps!!!!
