My husband and I told the grandparents (who lived about 5-6 hours away) by giving them a gift. It was thanksgiving weekend and we bothered to drive to both our parents homes just to deliver the message in person. Inside the package was a photo album and on the first page was the first ultrasound picture (11 weeks along) with a note that announced the newest member of the family. The reactions were priceless.
Other members of the family found out during the 'stand around the thanksgiving table and name what you are thankful for' tradition. We are all holding hands as everyone was naming what they were grateful for. When it was our turn, my husband said that we were grateful for the new addition to our family.
This brings back fond memories! I haven't thought about this in a long time!

Well, i am 20 years old, and although i am very responsible and grown, i new this was a huge change. My boyfriend is actually 25 years old and was looking to settle down anyways...which is good cuz i wanted to as well. We were only together 3 months when i became pregnant. I had that GUT feeling thing that i was pregnant a week before my missed period and i told my b/f that i thought i might be. He seemed like he was ok with the idea, which made me feel better. a week later i took a test..and my GUT did not lie..i was Pregnant. I took one test at night, which didnt give me an obvious reading, but i was pretty sure it meant positve. I told my boyfriend that i was pretty sure i might be but would have to retest. Next morning i tested again..and was def +...so i told my b/f (while he was half asleep) and honeslty he thought i was referring to the test i took the night before and had no idea i got a true + ...later that night i realized he had no idea i took another test and thought i was not really pregnant...Overall it was funny...and he was quite excited considering the circumstances....I sent my mom a text message...and she handled it better then i had expected as well....I was scared to tell her in person...and texting just seemed so much less stressful...now i am 35 weeks pregnant and we are all overly excited....
Good Luck to you!

Ours was a COMPLETE surprise. He had no idea. I didn't even tell him I had missed. I went straight from the Doctor to a baby store and picked up a tiny pair of baby shoes and wrapped it up. When he got home from work I handed him the present and he cried! He was in disbelief when he opened it and kept saying "no way!". Besides our wedding day it has been one of the happiest of our lives and I am glad I did it the way I did. As far as our parents it was pretty standard, we didn't wait. I knew my mom and his would pick up on it right away. Plus the first time I would refuse a glass of wine at my parents house would give it away!

For one of our Children I was 3 months when I found out so the Doctor scheduled me an immediate Ultra-sound! I took the pictures from it, laminated a good skull/head pic and put it in a card for his birthday!!!
The rest of the family I have always randomly changed my email address for example our family size last year was 6 ...we had 4 kids and my husband and myself, and at that time my email addy was 6smiths@.....when we found out we were prego and wanted everyone to know we sent out a change of email for 7smiths!
There are so many cute announcements you can do via the web as well! Have fun with it! Finding out your prego is such an exciting time!

A Father's Day card is always a cute idea or A blank card with a little note hinting about the baby. Or say hey hun I found a way to save on tampons ..... not use them for the next 9 months.

The first person to find out of course was myself and well my mother was with me at the time. Few weeks earlier though however i kept telling my partner that I felt bloated and if it was possible i could be pregnant. But we didn't really think much of it so we let it sly. Well when I found out My partner was at work and i told him. He really didn't say much but he spaced out. However his reaction when he got home was alot different.

I told my husband after he picked me up from the airport....he was driving the car, I was soooo nervous about telling him...I was acting so weird that it took him just a coupleof mins to realize it. He just looked at me and ask are u pg? and I said yes...he was so happy, couldn't believe it...he was so excited we passed our exit and he could barely drive.....we told our parents as soon as we got back from our trip..we had them all come over for dinner...and after talking a bit I said: so, these are some things we bought in our trip and pulled out a baby outfit...everybody was so quiet like they didin't get it...it was so funny looking at them...they reacted 4 seconds later...so dinner turned out to a big all night celebration...

I asked him if he could come home from work for a few and I had something to tell him. When he came in I asked him if he was planning on loving me forever with a big smile. He smiled and said, are you pregnant?? I told him yes and he was so excited!

I just told my bf to go look at the pregnancy test. And then we just talked about it. When you tell your family (over the phone) you should just tell them that you have great news. And then say you two are going to have a baby.
