Sounds like that vent is for a septic tank not a sewer line. If so you need to have someone come a clean out your septic system because it is full.

How high is this vent line? Most vents on houses are set to be above the roof line, so any back up should flood a drain (like the tub) before you would see anything out of the vent. I would think a vent just sitting out in your yard is dangerous. I'd have a professional come out to look at it and see if it can be capped or removed.

past that vent your pipe is partially glogged and your running a little slow so when a heavy load of debris backs up it's being pushed up the vent. Have the run snaked to make sure it clear to it's exit point.
