It is fiction.

It was first published in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century and has been proven to be a hoax over and over again.

The most famous and definitive debunking was done by the Times of London in 1912. It was found to be plagiarized, often word-for-word, from "Dialogues in Hell between Machiavelli and Montesquieu," by Maurice Joly, who was a famous French satirist. The pamphlet (dialogues in Hell) was written to embarass Napoleon III; it had no connections whatsoever to the Jews.

Here is a link to the document, translated to English:

You can compare them yourself if you wish, but wiki does a pretty good job of demonstrating the more obvious passages:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protocols_of_the_Elders_of_Zion

Since "Dialogues in Hell" was printed in 1864 (while Napoleon III was in power) and the Protocols didn't show up until the early 1900s, the proof is fairly incontrovertible.

I think that the reason this hoax has been so widely believed is that it confirms people's own suspicions about the Jews.

If this subject interests you, you might be interested in Hannah Arendt's _The Origins of Totalitarianism_. Although the latter half of the book is mostly dedicated to the rise of regimes, the first part has a fascinating history of anti-semitism. She has a pretty compelling argument that explains why many believed (and believe) that the Jews control global politics.

If you're not convinced or you're interested in the subject, please e-mail me. I've been working on a paper on anti-semitism in general and Eastern European Jewish conspiracy theories in particular.

Pure fiction. Never written by a Jew. However, it is thought to be a layout of how the corporate giants and bankers want to take over the world into a one-world government. And to apply it to the Jew is a great move on their part, since they're anti-semites and need someone to take the fall for their evil.

Its Fiction! It was ment to be a play. It was published as a fictional book, but many anti-Jew, & Jew conspirasists take it as fact to blame the Jews for everything that is wrong in this world! Think people who take it as fact are ignorant and jealous. Just because Jews are successful they resent it.
