I met Carrie Underwood right after she won american idol and she was so rude! My 7 year old niece wanted a autograph and Carrie Underwood told her not to come up to her in public while she was shopping. What a *****! She isnt the sweet little thing you see on television.

I grew up in California and would see famous people when I was out shopping. I have never bothered them I'm just not that kind of person. I now live in New York and when I'm in the city I see them walking around and again I don't want to be bothered when I'm out, why would I bother someone else.
However they are famous and being noticed is part of it all and they should be nice. It speaks volumes of who she really is if she can be rude to a little kid. Sorry your niece was treated that way.

Famous people are just as normal as other people. At times fame can be stressful. But i agree it must have been hard on you and your 7yr.old niece. The strange part about it is that you could bump into her again and she will be sweet as pie. As an actress myself i've met too many to count. I would have say though that Sharon Stone is not pleasant to work with. I myself never would be rude to a child. I enjoy autographing for kids. For Carrie Underwood to do that and it was seen by the media is not good exposure for her career. Mostly if she said those words to a 7yr.old. It was said to your niece and not you right? Well just tell your niece that its not because she does not like kids. She was in a bad mood that day, and the next time she might give an autograph.
Again sorry to hear that happen to a 7yr.old.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Take care.

I was a hospice nurse. Everyone dies, or, has a loved one who is dying, including the famous. I met a lot of foreign dignitaries, performers, politicians, etc. When I was only a teen, I had a hotdog at an outdoor stand with George Hamilton. He actually talked with me and was an awfully nice person. When I was six, Chicago's Bozo the Clown came to Alaska and put an invisible doughnut hole on my ponytail for having straight A's. I got Bob Hope's autograph at a St. Louis Blues hockey game one night when I was in junior high school after I left my algebra books in a bathroom. They announced all over the whole stadium that someone had left her school books in the bathroom. I was so embarassed. But, when I went to pick them up, Hope was holding them and gave me his autograph. That was fun. I met Ophra Winfrey at the Fedora restaurant in Telluride, David Carradine and Tom Cruise there, too, just hanging out. Met Patch Adams in a nearby village. I think the best, though, was President Eisenhower when he visited Ft. Richardson in Alaska. That was really exciting. When I was in high school, there was this truly worthless human being who was cruel to everyone. She actually loved to talk in the girl's room about how she could "destroy" a guy's confidence. Of, course, she was popular among the guys who noticed only her hooters. I was the lonely kid with patched-up glasses and a sliderule. I didn't get a date . . no hooters, yet. She went on to win some national beauty pagent that year. But, I knew who she was . . .a heartless soul. Whoever wound up with her and her hooters deserved the grief I'm sure she caused him.

Gee, think about it. You're a person with wants, needs and feelings. Whenever you go out into public, everyone feels a need to rush you and get into your face. Wouldn't you be a little pissy, too?

In answer to your question, I have meet several famous people and the vast majority of them have been extremely nice folks. Linda Lavin (Alice) was warm and witty. I sat and had a conversation for over an hour with Ed Asner (Lou Grant) because we discovered that we were from the same "home town". Joe Kennedy, Jr. was personable and charming. Ted Kennedy was drunk and slightly rude. Tony Gonzales (KC Chiefs) was very nice -- at the time he was dating the mother of one of my son's friends at, and the boys played catch with him in the yard. The members of the J. Geil's Band (80s pop-rock) were very accomodating for autographs and fan-talk.

Shall I go on? I didn't think so. Get over yourself. Maybe she was having a bad day. Maybe she wasn't feeling well. Maybe you were the 100-th person to walk up to her in that store and she just wanted to get her shopping done. You don't know what was going on before or after you entered the scene, and judging a person by a 1 or 2-second interaction is unfair to them and yourself.

I've met Johnny Depp (we used to go to the same ENT). I've met David Schwimmer, Jay Leno (used to live next door to him), James Garner, Brent Spiner, Marina Sirtis, Lorenzo Lamas and Nicolette Sheridan.
Everyone was very nice, we chatted and even shared food (I've run into Brent Spiner a few times at an eatery near the studio where he was shooting). The only one that wasn't nice was David Schwimmer and I hear from people who KNOW him that he just isn't a nice guy.
