This is an old riddle.

Assuming the record has two sides (A and B), the record has two grooves. Each side has one continuous groove that spirals inward to the center.

As a side note, a 3.5 minute song on one side of a 45 RPM record would require 157.5 revolutions to play, so that one groove would spiral around 157.5 times.

There is only one groove in the record. It is a long spiral. If there were several grooves, the needle would be forever stuck in the first groove.

time to bust out the calculator:

about 14. when i did this on the calculator it said 13.6363636363636 so i just rounded.
