Weight gain is defiantly there, trust me, it will happen. I bled the entire time I was on BC, they uped the amount of hormone and it worked for a while, but then I think my body got used to it and I started bleeding all the time again.
The worst side effect I just recently learned about, IT CAN CAUSE EARLY ABORTION! I knew that I wasn't really okay with BC to begin with, it's kinda *****y to have sex and not actually allow what is meant to happen happen, but after I learned that the hormones can cause your uterine lining to be weak and therefore if you do get pregnant, cause the fertilized egg to be unable to survive, that just really upset me. I think it something doctors need to discuss openly when prescribing BC because had I known that, I NEVER would have taken them. Woman should know what they are doing to their bodies, everyone talks about choice and control, but all this abortion stuff is doing is stripping people of their choices and control.

Hi sweetie well I myself was on birth control pills for many years . I didn't have any side effects. I know weight gain is a big negative one but everyone is different. Here is a website providing the pros and cons of Birth control pills. It may make your decision easier to decide whats right for you.

There are just the normal side effects....
As the body adjusts to hormonal changes created by The Pill, women often experience some minor side effects, including:
Irregular bleeding or spotting
Nausea
Breast tenderness
Weight gain and/or water retention
Spotty darkening of the skin
Mood changes
Side effects usually disappear after 2-3 cycles. If your side effects are bothersome after 2-3 cycles or if heavy bleeding occurs, continue taking your pills and call the clinic for an appointment to talk about your prescription.
It can also raise your risk of heart attack and stroke. It isnt recomended for women who smoke.
Some women also complain that it is hard to begin ovulating again after they stop the pill but there are plenty of women who ovulate right away.

Well being pregnant also has side effects leading all the way up to death. Even if your child survives, raising one takes a heavy toll on the body and mind. Alot of girls won't go on b/c for silly reasons but they forget about these things.
Just thought I'd give you a different view, since everyone already answered the negs of birth control.

They screw up your hormones. They cause heart problems, can lead to heart attack and stroke, blood clots, migranes, numbness sometimes even death...
Some pills cause weight gain.
It took me almost 2 years to get regular again after the pill, and i never felt right after having taken it.
Personaly i dont see where its worth it. Controling your body with chemicals never results in good things.
Atleast try a low dose pill without estrogen in it before going to something like real BC.

I KNOW taking birth control lead to my current condition of poly-cystic ovaries and now I am having major issues conceiving another child 7 years later!!!
Bottom line, all of our bodies genetically and otherwise are made up differently and "pills" are not natural, anytime you are ingesting something that is not natural, you have to be careful!!!
